Product testing at Materials Testing Veendam.
Materials Testing Veendam is your independent and accredited test laboratory for testing products and components for strength. We perform product testing on both ready-made products and on prototypes and new designs, so you can be confident that your construction will perform in practice as intended.
Strength tests for new designs and prototypes
In the development phase, testing prototypes is essential before production begins. With our modern universal testing machines (up to 600 kN) and extensive measurement equipment, we perform strength tests on new designs according to national and international standards (e.g. NEN-EN, ASTM, ISO). Consider:
- Tensile tests on full products or individual components.
- Determining tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, and fracture behavior.
- Inspection of welds, bolted connections, and mechanical couplings.
- Failure analysis in the event of unexpected results.
By testing prototypes early, you avoid costly changes at a later stage and are assured of a safe and reliable final product.
Why choose Materials Testing Veendam?
- Independent and accredited test laboratory (ISO/IEC 17025).
- Fast turnaround times and flexible scheduling.
- More than 30 years of experience in materials science and mechanical testing.
- Located in Veendam, easily accessible for Northern and Eastern Netherlands.
- Personal service: we help determine the most suitable test setup.
Do you have a new design that needs testing, or would you like to have existing products tested periodically? Please feel free to contact us for advice or a quote.
Testing as a Valuable Complement to Strength Calculations
Designers use FEM calculations and hand calculations to determine the strength of structures. Yet practical factors, such as material defects, fabrication tolerances, welding imperfections or unexpected load directions, can diverge from the assumptions in the calculation. A physical prototype testing can then provide a lot of clarity: does the product actually meet the calculated requirements or are there unforeseen weak points? Even when the test does not provide a definitive answer, the measurement often yields valuable insights, enabling you to refine your calculation model and optimize future designs even further.

Common product tests in our test laboratory
In our test laboratory we test, among other things:
- Construction materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminium).
- Clamps, chains, hooks and lifting equipment.
- Couplings, flange connections and fasteners.
- Welding constructions and welded components.
- Complete assemblies and components.
Afterwards you will receive a detailed test report with measurement data, photos, graphs and a clear conclusion.
