Materials Testing Veendam is an independent and impartial metallurgical test laboratory for metal research. We are accredited by the Council for Accreditation according to EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017, accreditation L647. We perform destructive testing for the qualification of welders and welding procedures and determine the chemical and mechanical properties of metals. We conduct tests on materials, welds, and products for industries including industry, shipbuilding, offshore, equipment construction, piping, and construction.

Failure analysis
Every failure presents an opportunity to prevent a future failure. This offers possibilities for improvements in maintenance, production, and the product. For failure analysis we work very closely with our partner infoMateria (iM). Willem-Pier Vellinga of iM is an expert in appropriate failure investigation, including material choice, design, and issues with maintenance and use. In determining the root cause of material problems, iM follows best practices, grounded in years of industrial and academic experience recorded in VDI-3822.
We also arrange non-destructive testing (NDT)
We relieve our clients of concerns with a total package in metal testing: our evaluators and examiners attend welding trials, and at our metallurgical testing laboratory in Veendam we carry out destructive testing. We do not perform non-destructive testing (NDT) ourselves. However, we arrange this for you as part of our total package. For this, we use specialized and accredited partners in our network.
